WELCOME TO THE OUR VOICES PROJECT
We ask: If you are a member of a religious or cultural minority in the US, what really divides us? What challenges do we face as we try to keep true to our distinct cultures, while embracing all that America offers?
Kol Hanashim (Voices of Women) explores this question through the voices and experiences of Orthodox Jewish women. We believe that sharing their stories with diverse communities can promote mutual understanding and mitigate conflict both within and across cultural minority communities.
The Our Voices Project can help achieve this through facilitating a dialogue and empowering participants to share their perspectives through an online digital archive . We begin by screening a short excerpt from the film, then facilitate a conversation with breakout sessions addressing these issues. After the event, all participants are provided access to a website where they are empowered to share their reflections on the film and discussion through pictures, video, audio or the written word. Rather than being a conversation that ends with the close of the event, the Our Voices Project creates an ongoing opportunity for continued growth and understanding amongst participants and the greater public.
